  • 2022 Bridge Award Winner 400K - South Carolina - Daniel Builders

This Lake Hartwell South Carolina home with open concept was recognized by winning a Bridge Award for a four pane ceiling with tongue and groove paralleling a four gable roof. 2022 2022 BRIDGE AWARD WINNER (400K) TRADITIONAL OPEN CONCEPT Daniel Builders was named 2022 Bridge Awards Winner for “Highest Degree of Difficulty and Best Innovation of Space in a Partial Home Remodel $400K” for the “Gambrell Road” house. The Bridge Awards are presented annually by GBS Building Supply and produced by the Home Builders Association of Greenville to recognize excellence in craftsmanship and professionalism in the Home Building industry in the Upstate. "THIS WAS AN ESPECIALLY COMPLEX CEILING AS SEEN IN THE PHOTOGRAPHY, BUT OUR CRAFTSMEN WERE UP FOR THE CHALLENGE AND DID EXQUISITE WORK." - BOB CORD, DANIEL BUILDERS This lakefront home features 4 gable roof lines that all meet at a central peak in the center of the living area. Our goal was to create parallel lines with 3’’ tongue and grove across each ceiling plane, while also accounting for variance of existing structure. Shadow lines in the trim were utilized to create intentional reveals throughout the ceiling, and the ceiling was scribed to the existing fireplace. Miter folds cap the corners of the ceiling to create an intriguing visual at the peak of the ceiling. Previous Next Back to Awards Gallery

  • 2019 Bridge Award Winner - South Carolina - Daniel Builders

Presented annually to recognize excellence in craftsmanship and professionalism in the Home Building industry. In 2019 Daniel Builders won this award by opening these spaces to be more livable, and bring a decidedly modern and exciting flair to the aesthetic. 2019 2019 BRIDGE AWARD WINNER (250K - 500K) MODERN MINIMALIST KITCHEN Daniel Builders was named 2019 Bridge Award Winner for “Best Kitchen in a Full Home Remodel $250,000 - $500,000” for the “Beacon Drive” house. The Bridge Awards are presented annually by GBS Building Supply and produced by the Home Builders Association of Greenville to recognize excellence in craftsmanship and professionalism in the Home Building industry in the Upstate. "SO PROUD OF OUR TEAM! WE WANT TO BE THE MOST TRUSTED RENOVATION CONTRACTOR IN OUR SERVICE AREA, AND TAKING HOME A BRIDGE AWARD PUTS US AMONG THE MOST ELITE CONTRACTORS IN GREENVILLE." - DANIEL JACHENS, DANIEL BUILDERS This custom home built on the beautiful banks of Lake Keowee in the 1990s had a very dated interior. Unfortunately, the layout was completely compartmentalized and cramped. In particular the kitchen and master bathroom were barely functional, reading as afterthoughts compared to the grand architectural design throughout the rest of the home. The client’s vision was two-fold; open these spaces to more livable, realistic proportions and bring a decidedly modern and exciting flair to the aesthetic. Decisions were made to extend the footprint of the kitchen by 2 feet which would allow for a 9’x4’ central island and to widen an existing passthrough between the kitchen and great room so that the homeowners can view the lakeshore from their workspace. Flat panel custom cabinets in a combination of custom painted maple and stained sepele woods brought modern appeal without overwhelming the beautiful natural wood beams and soaring ceilings with skylights which are the intended focal points. In the master bath, the clients wanted something truly special. Together we created an open wet room concept for the shower and tub area, and continued the rich sepele wood cabinetry that is also featured in the kitchen and dining spaces. The mosaic feature wet room wall celebrates its unusual shape that is due to a low roof line in the home’s exterior. The random scatter homemade triangular tiles were plotted on the floor of the master bedroom one piece at a time so the client could visualize design before installation. It took and a lot of patience for the tile tradesmen to transfer the pattern and install the tile on the shower walls. • 2021 Bridge Award Winner - South Carolina - Daniel Builders

An award winning master bathroom is recognized for renovation excellence in two categories Highest Degree of Difficulty and Best Innovation of Space. 2021 2021 BRIDGE AWARD WINNER (300K+) CONTEMPORARY LUXURY BATH Daniel Builders was named 2021 Bridge Award Winner for “Best Innovation of Space and Highest Degree of Difficulty in a Partial Home Remodel $300,000+” for the “Chamberlain Court” house. This project also received a Bridge Award for "Best Special Feature: Lighting." The Bridge Awards are presented annually by GBS Building Supply and produced by the Home Builders Association of Greenville to recognize excellence in craftsmanship and professionalism in the Home Building industry in the Upstate. "CUSTOM PROJECTS ALWAYS HAVE UNIQUE FEATURES. THES PROJECTS WERE ESPECIALLY UNIQUE. THEY INCLUDED SOME MASSIVE TILE IN THE BATHROOM AND SPECIALTY LIGHTING IN A CONVERTED CRAWL SPACE TURNED CELLAR." - BOB CORD, DANIEL BUILDERS Master Bath: Beyond upgrading the dated interior, some of the client’s biggest goals for this potential-filled 386 square feet of Master Bathroom space was to create better traffic flow, more shower space and additional closet storage. All existing interior was completely demolished at the start the of this renovation. Defining characteristics of this Design-Build renovation are custom floating vanities with MTI Baths Boutique Collection vanity tops and Integrated sinks, Isenburg matte black wall mounted faucets, B&F Marble Systems Marmara Avenza Light & Dolomite tile accent wall, dimmable backlit mirrors by IB Mirror, Sonneman LED wall sconces, and recessed custom shelving with LED backlighting. A custom zero entry tile shower was designed utilizing the Wet Style Feel Collection matte black shower base, B&F Elegance 24” x 48” Statuario matte porcelain tile walls and bench, and Isenburg matte black shower fixtures and body sprays. Flooring throughout the bathroom was B&F Elegance 24” x 48” Nero Marquina matte porcelain tile. Lighting for this renovation came via a Klus wall integrated LED system. As for bathing, a Barclay freestanding tub with Isenburg matte black tub filler was installed. No detail was overlooked during this Master Bathroom transformation from an outdated area to a delightful new space that thrilled the homeowners. Wine Cellar: The client’s vision for this hidden space, accessed via a secret passageway, was to incorporate elements of modern design to create a wine cellar of unequaled flair. “Before” photos reveal a dark, unrefined basement area prior to undergoing extreme transformation. The effort to convert the original wine cellar into a finished space began with the installation of a waterproofing system. Relocation of existing wiring, plumbing, and HVAC ducting followed, to create the necessary headroom for a finished ceiling. The most eye-catching aspect of this renovation is the lighting. Light sources include Klus wall and ceiling integrated LED strip lighting, LED backlighting for the wine rack, LED up lighting at custom floating shelves, and LED stair riser lighting. The homeowner’s inspiration for the ceiling was to create a lighting arrangement that appeared as “pick-up sticks” that were randomly dropped. A Silver Cloud leathered granite countertop with a mitered waterfall edge sits atop custom-built cabinetry, and is complemented by in-countertop pop-up receptacles, an Elkay quartz sink, and an Isenburg matte black faucet. Under the counter is a beverage cooler and an ice maker. The flooring consists of B&F Elegance 24” x 48” Nero Marquina matte porcelain tile, along with an accent strip of polished black pebbles below the sleek wine rack from STACT. • 2022 Bridge Award Winner 600K to 700K - South Carolina - Daniel Builders

This custom home renovation project won Best Overall renovation in the $600K-$700K renovation category in South Carolina. 2022 2022 BRIDGE AWARD WINNER (600K - 700K) CONTEMPORARY OPEN CONCEPT Daniel Builders was named 2022 Bridge Awards Winner for “Best Overall, Best Bathroom, Best Kitchen, and Best Exterior in a Full Home Remodel $600K-$700K” for the “Carnelda Drive” house. The Bridge Awards are presented annually by GBS Building Supply and produced by the Home Builders Association of Greenville to recognize excellence in craftsmanship and professionalism in the Home Building industry in the Upstate. "THIS PROJECT PRESENTED SIGNIFICANT CHALLENGES FOR OUR TEAM. SO MUCH OF THE ORIGINAL STRUCTURE WAS POORLY CONSTRUCTED. THE MORE WE DEMOED, THE MORE WE REALIZED WE NEEDED TO DEMO UNTIL WE NEARLY HAD A BLANK CANVAS. GETTING THE PROJECT TO AN AWARD-WINNING LEVEL IS A LOT OF VALIDATION FOR OUR TEAM." - BOB CORD, DANIEL BUILDERS At the project kick-off, the client sincerely asked, “Is this not the ugliest house you’ve ever seen?” They went on to describe their vision for their home which included a more modern feel, higher ceilings, more natural light, space to entertain friends and family and to be able to see straight through the entrance of the house to beautiful Lake Keowee. The original home had low ceilings, dark wood paneling on the walls and several small rooms that made entertaining very difficult. The clients desired a more modern look on the exterior which we achieved by raising the roof, adding some architectural interest at the entry, painting the stone and using a composite material on some of the siding and decking to give a wood look without the added maintenance. Some unique features of the inside of the house included: a vaulted ceiling with timber beams, wood slat wall in the bar area, a hidden pantry entrance in the kitchen, a Zen-like shower with loose stones in one master bath and tile slat walls and a walnut floating vanity in the other. Wood beams in the ceilings highlighted the drastic change in ceiling height as did the new clerestory windows. This home went from being a dark and dreary 1970’s ranch to a sleek contemporary lake home filled with lots of natural light and wood elements, reminding you that it is a lake house after all and it’s ALL about that VIEW!! "THIS DESIGN-BUILD RENOVATION PRESENTED SOME UNIQUE CHALLENGES, BUT OUR TEAM ROSE TO THE OCCASION. WE ARE GRATEFUL FOR THE OPPORTUNITY AND PLEASED WITH THE OUTCOME." - BOB CORD, DANIEL BUILDERS Beyond upgrading the dated interior, our clients' vision for this beautiful, lakefront home was capturing lake views from multiple vantage points throughout the main level. This required demolishing the center of the home and reconstructing it as an open concept living space. Interior walls were removed, and additional support added above the ceiling so guests experience the view immediately upon coming through the front door. No detail was overlooked as the original set of disjointed spaces were reimagined into a synergistic flow that now features an expanded custom kitchen, new walk- in pantry, mudroom, laundry space, gracious living area, new outdoor four seasons living space, and an elegant master suite. The main living space boasts a custom dry bar and a tiered peninsula that offers additional seating and frames the view from the kitchen. • 2022 Bridge Award Winner 100K to 200K - South Carolina - Daniel Builders

Full bathroom remodel with ADA roll in shower awarded the Bridge Award by the Greenville Home Builders Association for the highest degree of difficulty to build. 2022 2022 BRIDGE AWARD WINNER (100K - 200K) TRADITIONAL ADA BATHROOM Daniel Builders was named 2022 Bridge Awards Winner for “Highest Degree of Difficulty in a Partial Home Remodel $100K-$200K” for the “Ruskin Square” house. The Bridge Awards are presented annually by GBS Building Supply and produced by the Home Builders Association of Greenville to recognize excellence in craftsmanship and professionalism in the Home Building industry in the Upstate. "SUCH A UNIQUELY BEAUTIFUL BATHROOM THAT'S ADA COMPLIANT. THE WIFE LOVED THIS BATHROOM SO MUCH SHE JOKED HER HUSBAND WASN'T ALLOWED TO ENTER IT." - BOB CORD, DANIEL BUILDERS One of the primary goals driving this renovation was opening the floor plan to enhance the ability of the homeowners to age in place. With concerns for mobility in the future, the client requested an ADA roll-in shower and the removal of the water closet in favor of a more open plan. Opening walls and expanding the shower also helped meet a secondary goal to increase the natural light in what was originally a fairly dark space. An early idea was to add or enlarge windows, but this brought some challenges including the exterior look of the home, privacy, and use of the outdoor space. Instead, fewer walls, the addition of glass, and the combination of gorgeous, reflective marble with a delicate Schumacher wall covering accomplished a bright and elegant space. Finally, the custom vanity features a built-in mirror on the linen tower. This feature, combined with the recessed drawer stack and breakfront counter top allows the homeowner a small niche where she can sit to use the vanity while still maintaining the needed storage space within the cabinets. The design team worked to address every functional detail to provide for the client’s needs while also capturing a classic interior style that blends seamlessly with the original design of this beautiful southern home. • 2024 Bridge Award Winner 1.5M to 2M - South Carolina - Daniel Builders

This whole-home remodel in Simpsonville was awarded four Bridge Awards (Best Overall, Best Kitchen, Best Bath, and Best Exterior) by the Greenville Home Builders Association in the 1.5 - 2 million dollar category. 2024 2024 BRIDGE AWARD WINNER (1.5M - 2M) CAROLINA CASUAL HOME Daniel Builders was named 2024 Bridge Awards Winner for “Best Overall, Best Bathroom, Best Kitchen, and Best Exterior in a Full Home Remodel $1.5M-$2M” for this Simpsonville home. The Bridge Awards are presented annually by GBS Building Supply and produced by the Home Builders Association of Greenville to recognize excellence in craftsmanship and professionalism in the Home Building industry in the Upstate. "THIS AWARD WAS MADE POSSIBLE THANKS TO THE DEDICATION OF BOTH OUR TEAM AND OUR TRADE PARTNERS. IT'S A COLLABORATIVE WIN FOR EVERYONE." - ANDREW HORNE, DANIEL BUILDERS The transformation of this Simpsonville home involved a departure from the home’s traditional aesthetic. The existing archways were squared off, and the compartmentalized floor plan was opened to create better flow for entertaining. The project scope impacted every room, including the foyer, kitchen, great room, living room, 5.5 baths, 5 bedrooms, and music room. The show-stopping kitchen includes a 12-foot island, custom metal hood vent, coffee bar, and handcrafted herringbone pantry door. A beautiful bar area was constructed beside the kitchen. The formal living room became an exquisite dining room featuring craftsman-built wainscoting. The existing dining room was converted to a music room with floor-to-ceiling mirrors. In addition to the work on both floors of the home’s interior, the project included a new screened porch, a detached garage conversion, an outdoor pavilion, and a completely redesigned landscape, adding 738 square feet of living space and 1248 square feet of outdoor space to the home’s existing footprint. Notable features of the exterior spaces include the outdoor kitchen & outdoor dining area. The screened porch features a retractable vinyl enclosure, two in-ceiling heaters, Ipe wood decking, and multi-slide pocketing doors. The detached garage was transformed into a pool house, including a kitchenette and full bath. Each design selection was meticulously curated by Carol D’Cruz, right down to the organic, handmade tiles of the kitchen backsplash, which inspired the rest of the home’s design, which the designer calls “Carolina Casual.” (Note: AV, pool, & landscaping completed by others: Fusion Audio + Video, Aquarius Pools of the Upstate, & Arbor Land Design.) The beauty and also challenge of design was blending straightforward Scandinavian styles with enough traditional charm to integrate with a distinctively southern setting. The architecture respects the geography with a gabled roof and elegant brick detail, and the exterior also incorporates modern touches such as sleek black window frames, board baton, and contemporary light fixtures. The interior is a blend of warm neutrals grounded by sleek black finishes and centered on a soaring, 20’ fireplace surround. The warmth of natural wood beams and white oak floors are beautifully contrasted with clean-lined custom cabinetry and dramatically veined quartz counters. This intentional blending of traditional textures with clean, contemporary lines and color palettes extends to the master suite. There, soft white marble is cut to create a simple yet elegant backdrop for the stunning soaker tub and private view of the garden.
