Greenville South Carlina - Daniel Builders

Why move to Greenville, South Carolina?

The secret is out! People want to live in the Upstate of South Carolina, and Greenville is at the center of that growth. Many are relocating from other parts of the country and making Greenville and the surrounding Upstate their home.

Location, Location, Location!

The Upstate offers a combination of mild weather, beautiful scenery, outdoor recreation, a growing economy, and a strong sense of community. It also offers something that can be hard to find: small-city vibes near big-city amenities.

Greenville's location is a big part of the appeal. Located along the I-85 corridor between Charlotte and Atlanta, Greenville gives residents convenient access to two major cities while offering a very different pace of life. You can enjoy restaurants and entertainment downtown, spend an afternoon on the Swamp Rabbit Trail, or head toward the mountains without having to live in a major metropolitan area.

For many people relocating to the Upstate, the financial side of living here is another part of the appeal. South Carolina has one of the lowest effective property tax rates in the country, at 0.49% for owner-occupied housing, the fifth-lowest rate nationwide, according to the Tax Foundation.

A Haven for Outdoor Enthusiasts

One of the things that makes Greenville stand out is how easy it is to enjoy the outdoors. Falls Park, the Reedy River, local parks, and the Swamp Rabbit Trail give residents plenty of opportunities to walk, bike, exercise, or simply spend time outside. The trail has become a particularly important part of the community, connecting Greenville with surrounding areas and giving people another way to experience the Upstate.

Greenville’s appeal extends beyond its downtown. The surrounding Upstate landscape offers everything from the Blue Ridge Mountains to lakes, rivers, and rolling countryside, with each season bringing its own character to the region.

Travelers Rest, Mauldin, Simpsonville, and communities throughout the Upstate each offer their own mix of neighborhoods, restaurants, recreation, and access to the outdoors. That variety gives people the opportunity to find a community and pace of life that fits them best.

Good Old Southern Hospitality

Ask people what they love about Greenville, and the answer often comes back to the people. There is a friendliness here that visitors and new residents notice quickly, whether they are walking downtown, visiting a local restaurant, or spending time in one of Greenville's parks. That sense of community is one of the reasons Greenville can feel welcoming even to someone who has just arrived.

For the final episode of our Condo Living series, we invited Greenville Realtor Aubree Lewis to talk about why so many people are relocating to the area. We also took the conversation downtown and asked local residents what they love about Greenville.

Watch the full episode above to hear their perspectives and get a closer look at what makes Greenville such a desirable place to live.

A Growing Economy

Greenville's growth isn't just about new residents. The Upstate has become a place where businesses are growing, new companies are investing, and employment opportunities continue to expand.

Greenville's economy includes major employers such as Michelin, GE, and other companies across manufacturing, healthcare, technology, education, and more. The region's economic diversity gives people opportunities across a wide range of industries and supports the continued growth of the community.

Opportunity in the Upstate isn't limited to large corporations. Small businesses are an important part of what makes the area unique, too. Daniel Builders is one example. What began in 2007 has grown into a thriving business employing almost 50 people in 2026. The growth of businesses like ours reflects the opportunity available to entrepreneurs and small businesses throughout the region.

For people relocating to Greenville, that combination of established employers, growing businesses, and entrepreneurial opportunity makes the Upstate more than a beautiful place to live — it is a place where people can build careers, businesses, and lives.

Welcome Home

Yes, Greenville is growing, but that growth feels different. That’s because people aren't simply passing through. They’re putting down roots and choosing to make the Upstate home. They are buying older homes, purchasing condos downtown, and renovating the homes they already love. Because of the demand for homes in this area, it can be difficult to find the perfect fit in Greenville’s housing inventory. Remodeling provides the opportunity to customize an active listing into a forever home that fits your taste and lifestyle.

At Daniel Builders, we are proud to be part of that growth. Whether you are new to the Upstate or have called Greenville home for decades, we would love to help you remodel, renovate, or renew your home. Call Daniel Builders at 864.506.5546 or get your renovation started here!
