  • 2021 Bridge Award Winner - South Carolina - Daniel Builders

An award winning master bathroom is recognized for renovation excellence in two categories Highest Degree of Difficulty and Best Innovation of Space. 2021 2021 BRIDGE AWARD WINNER (300K+) CONTEMPORARY LUXURY BATH Daniel Builders was named 2021 Bridge Award Winner for “Best Innovation of Space and Highest Degree of Difficulty in a Partial Home Remodel $300,000+” for the “Chamberlain Court” house. This project also received a Bridge Award for "Best Special Feature: Lighting." The Bridge Awards are presented annually by GBS Building Supply and produced by the Home Builders Association of Greenville to recognize excellence in craftsmanship and professionalism in the Home Building industry in the Upstate. "CUSTOM PROJECTS ALWAYS HAVE UNIQUE FEATURES. THES PROJECTS WERE ESPECIALLY UNIQUE. THEY INCLUDED SOME MASSIVE TILE IN THE BATHROOM AND SPECIALTY LIGHTING IN A CONVERTED CRAWL SPACE TURNED CELLAR." - BOB CORD, DANIEL BUILDERS Master Bath: Beyond upgrading the dated interior, some of the client’s biggest goals for this potential-filled 386 square feet of Master Bathroom space was to create better traffic flow, more shower space and additional closet storage. All existing interior was completely demolished at the start the of this renovation. Defining characteristics of this Design-Build renovation are custom floating vanities with MTI Baths Boutique Collection vanity tops and Integrated sinks, Isenburg matte black wall mounted faucets, B&F Marble Systems Marmara Avenza Light & Dolomite tile accent wall, dimmable backlit mirrors by IB Mirror, Sonneman LED wall sconces, and recessed custom shelving with LED backlighting. A custom zero entry tile shower was designed utilizing the Wet Style Feel Collection matte black shower base, B&F Elegance 24” x 48” Statuario matte porcelain tile walls and bench, and Isenburg matte black shower fixtures and body sprays. Flooring throughout the bathroom was B&F Elegance 24” x 48” Nero Marquina matte porcelain tile. Lighting for this renovation came via a Klus wall integrated LED system. As for bathing, a Barclay freestanding tub with Isenburg matte black tub filler was installed. No detail was overlooked during this Master Bathroom transformation from an outdated area to a delightful new space that thrilled the homeowners. Wine Cellar: The client’s vision for this hidden space, accessed via a secret passageway, was to incorporate elements of modern design to create a wine cellar of unequaled flair. “Before” photos reveal a dark, unrefined basement area prior to undergoing extreme transformation. The effort to convert the original wine cellar into a finished space began with the installation of a waterproofing system. Relocation of existing wiring, plumbing, and HVAC ducting followed, to create the necessary headroom for a finished ceiling. The most eye-catching aspect of this renovation is the lighting. Light sources include Klus wall and ceiling integrated LED strip lighting, LED backlighting for the wine rack, LED up lighting at custom floating shelves, and LED stair riser lighting. The homeowner’s inspiration for the ceiling was to create a lighting arrangement that appeared as “pick-up sticks” that were randomly dropped. A Silver Cloud leathered granite countertop with a mitered waterfall edge sits atop custom-built cabinetry, and is complemented by in-countertop pop-up receptacles, an Elkay quartz sink, and an Isenburg matte black faucet. Under the counter is a beverage cooler and an ice maker. The flooring consists of B&F Elegance 24” x 48” Nero Marquina matte porcelain tile, along with an accent strip of polished black pebbles below the sleek wine rack from STACT. • Traditional Interior Pendleton - South Carolina - Daniel Builders

A historic home near downtown Pendleton South Carolina was completely remodeled by Daniel Builders with materials reused from the original home. TRADITIONAL INTERIOR Pendleton Bathroom Kitchen Whole Home This home was originally constructed over 100 years ago. Daniel Builders performed a full remodel of this beautiful historic home utilizing a Guide-Design-Build process. The house was stripped down to the studs and expanded with a two-story addition, resulting in an increase of total living space from 2,200 square feet to 3,900 square space. The remodel incorporated many reclaimed materials to achieve a finished product that harkens back to the home’s original construction. The beam and mantle in the living room were crafted from old framing materials, while the wainscoting in the dining room was made from reclaimed paneling salvaged from the old addition that was demolished. The ceiling and fireplace in the master bedroom were also constructed using reused materials. Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining the original character is immediately evident upon entering the home. The additional square footage (1700 square feet) enhances functionality while bolstering the home’s historic charm. Modern and classic design elements are beautifully blended to endure for decades to come. Previous Next Back to Projects Gallery

BUILDING TRUST BLOG CUSTOM HOME HIGHS & LOWS Hailey Evans built a custom home before meeting Daniel Builders. She shares her experience. Back to Blog 2023-03-20 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PPcAMIc8bJs You’ve heard the stories before. Client goes to a custom builder with a big dream. Builder says no problem and off they go building, when seemingly out-of-the-blue MAJOR problems arise. Questions and fears multiply. Will my project ever be complete? How much added cost? And ultimately how bad can this get? A ton of money, time, sanity and yes someone's very home is at stake. On this episode of Ready, Set, Renovate! Hailey Evans shares how she worked hard to keep her custom home from turning into a contractor horror story. She and her builder (not Daniel Builders) thought they had a good idea how everything would go, but those expectations changed radically after a few months of building, and not for the better. Issues surrounding COVID only added to the difficulties. Being a “can-do” person, Hailey rolled up her sleeves and became the self-appointed project manager for her custom home. Pretty remarkable considering she had zero experience as a builder! As she articulates, the learning process wasn't easy, but rewarding. Hailey was determined her custom home story would have happy ending. Fortunately, the ending was happy in more ways than one. Are you wanting to steer clear of a custom renovation horror story? In the wake of Hurricane Helene, we wanted to acknowledge the extensive damage done to homes throughout our community. Amidst the devastation, we are grateful for the compassion and tenacity of the hurricane heroes in our midst. As hurricane recovery efforts continue, numerous people in our area are eager to find answers about how to repair hurricane damage to their homes. BUILDING TRUST BLOG HURRICANE REPAIRS Rebuilding After Hurricane Helene Back to Blog 2024-10-04 In the wake of Hurricane Helene, we wanted to acknowledge the extensive damage done to homes throughout our community. Amidst the devastation, we are grateful for the compassion and tenacity of the hurricane heroes in our midst. As hurricane recovery efforts continue, numerous people in our area are eager to find answers about how to repair hurricane damage to their homes. Here are a few questions you might be asking and ways we can help. Where do I begin? You’ve likely communicated with your insurance company already. If not, start there. Your insurance company/adjuster can guide you through tree/branch removal and initial remediation. Is there a risk of additional damage to my home? Your safety is the priority. Please be aware many potential hazards remain ranging from chainsaw usage to compromised trees/branches falling. Damaged homes and trees present many ongoing safety concerns. Several physical injuries have already occurred to homeowners who underestimate these dangers. Rely on experienced professionals to help prevent injury and additional damage to your home. As you continue to evaluate your property, put these two items on your checklist. Has my damaged roof been securely tarped to prevent future water damage? Has a tree arborist examined the structural integrity of trees still standing? How can Daniel Builders help repair my damaged home? We realize our team is best suited for certain situations. Calling us can be clarifying, even calming. Our commitment is to Build Trust whether we help you directly or refer you to someone who can. Speak with someone on our team by calling 864.506.5546 or completing a form fill on the Daniel Builders website. Prior to contacting us, take photos of the damage. During our initial conversation, we will request photos to expedite the process. This assists our team with initial evaluation prior to a site visit. How long will it be before my house is restored to normal? At this point, there are still too many unknowns to estimate a timeline for repair. Be wary of anyone overpromising a quick repair process. Misleading promises will only compound your stress. Our commitment is to communicate on a regular basis (in many cases daily) and eliminate confusion about what happens next. How can I ensure a qualified builder repairs my home? We understand your urgency to restore your home to its pre-storm condition. Unfortunately, in this situation, there will be those who seek to exploit others for personal benefit. Verify the hurricane repair contractor you partner with is local, licensed, and insured. Check references and/or Google reviews. Reach out to your local Home Builders Association. Finally, obtain a documented scope of work and price clarity (getting as much in writing as possible) before turning your home over to a builder. < Previous Next > Back to Blog SEE OUR WORK LET'S TALK We’d love to hear from you! • RENO ROLLER COASTER - Building Trust Renovation Blog - South Carolina - Daniel Builders

Brace yourself for the twists and turns of a custom renovation. BUILDING TRUST BLOG RENO ROLLER COASTER Brace yourself for the twists and turns of a custom renovation. Back to Blog 2017-05-29 Here's what to expect during a custom renovation. Your renovation experience feels less likely a roller coaster when you know what to expect. The key to enjoying a major renovation is knowing what to expect. A good contractor sets clear expectations before starting and communicates regularly throughout the process. The customer never feels “jerked around” regarding the project’s timeline or outcome. Have you ever strapped yourself on a roller coaster and within moments asked yourself “Why?!!” Why does anyone willingly subject themselves to sheer terror? The appeal is somewhat a mystery. Here’s the point though: Roller Coasters are meant to be terrifying. Expecting less is unwise. Meet Takabisha, the world's steepest roller coaster. Located in Japan, this machine moves from 0-60 in less than 2 seconds going down at 121° grade for 141 feet. Translation: Terrifying! Imagine boarding Takabisha convinced this was a calm, gentle ride. You tell yourself Takabisha is like a horse-drawn carriage moving through a serene countryside at a predictable pace. You feel confident a courteous tour guide is included. Someone to periodically explain the landscape around you. Those expectations would be obliterated in the screaming chaos of Takabisha! Major renovations and roller coasters share some common characteristics. Excitement can quickly turn to terror if you’re uncertain how the ride goes, and especially how it ends. Here’s an overview of common emotional ups and downs during a renovation. The design phase (UP) - At least it’s where a renovation should start. Skipping this first step could be disastrous. Creating a well-thought-out design ensures everyone is on the same page. The outcome is clearly defined. Otherwise, you’re on a roller coaster launching out into the unknown. Workable Drawings (DOWN slightly, but quickly back UP) - As you go through this phase you may experience a few frustrations as details are analyzed and discussed. Once everything is clarified you’re back on a high note and should be feeling very confident about proceeding to the next phase. Bidding the Project & Agreeing to a Contract (DOWN) - The process takes a big drop here if your contractor wasn’t involved in the design phase. The bidding/pricing get’s dicey, and you quickly realize general contractors come in all different varieties. Some will offer great pricing, but you wonder about the quality. Others offer extreme quality, but you wonder about the affordability. Skipping this stage all together is preferable. Taking a Design-Build approach makes it possible. A Design-Build renovation has the contractor involved from the start. Construction Begins (UP) - High levels of excitement characterize this phase. Visible progress is happening. Seeing this progress typically makes the customer very happy! The speed of Demolition and Rough Framing makes the customer feel they’re on HGTV. That fantasy doesn’t last long though. Rough Ins (Down dramatically) - Plumbing, heating, electrical and insulation trades all get involved at this stage and production slows way down. Frustrations begin to surface as the customer starts to feel their home has been “under construction” way too long. These frustrations are minimized by a good project manager who keeps the trades moving efficiently and the customer clearly informed. Hanging/Sanding Drywall (Down further) - This might very well be rock bottom on the renovation roller coaster. (Call it “sheet rock bottom”.) The customer still hasn’t seen the beautiful progress they expected, and their patience is usually wearing thin about now. Might feel like the ride has stalled, but rest assured progress is happening. Trim & Cabinet to Painting (Up) - Finally traces of true craftsmanship are seen. The customer can visualize the end product. Emotions improve dramatically through this stage. Punch List complete (Up higher) - Emotions continue to rise as the end is only a few simple steps away. Move In (Up higher still and coasting to a gentle stop) - Relief and celebration occur. After seeing the finished product, the customer quickly forgets all frustration. Now the outlook is bright and cheerful. Only one thing left to do. Enjoy the newly renovated space for years to come! The takeaway: If you plan to ride the renovation roller coaster, ride responsibly. Choose a contractor able to ensure the level of quality, service, and calm you expect. Choose someone who will provide a clear path to completion, while minimizing stress and frustration along the way. Are you contemplating a major home renovation? • RENOVATION HAPPINESS - Building Trust Renovation Blog - South Carolina - Daniel Builders

Create a mood altering renovation with colors, space and pleasant smells. BUILDING TRUST BLOG RENOVATION HAPPINESS Create a mood altering renovation with colors, space and pleasant smells. Back to Blog 2018-09-27 Renovated spaces that incorporate colors, nature, space and pleasant smells will have a positive impact on your mood. "How does that make you feel?" Asking this age-old psychiatric question is highly recommended as you consider ways to improve the space where you live. A few days ago, I came across these 7 décor characteristics that influence your emotions and wanted to share them with you. The Color of Your World In the early 1800s, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe proposed colors affect the human psyche in his book Theory of Colours . Although his interpretation of certain colors was not entirely accurate, his theory was confirmed through recent studies and experiments. Today, we know colors affect us on a psychological level. Here are some color correlations: Red - passion, warmth, intimacy Orange - energy, innovation Yellow - joy, creativity Green - relaxation, naturally soothing Blue - calming, refreshing Purple - luxury, sophistication Gray - relaxation, peacefulness Brown - relaxation, calmness, connection to nature Black - boldness, power White - cleanliness, purity, sterility Bringing Nature Indoors While there's nothing wrong with filling your home with modern conveniences, too much may leave the living space feeling sterile or impersonal. Such environments do little to reduce stress and feelings of anxiety. Psychologists recommend adding elements of nature to your environment to counteract a space that feels sterile. Bringing potted plants inside, keeping a bouquet of flowers on a table, and hanging paintings of outdoor scenes will help create a relaxed and welcoming environment. Clear the Clutter Clearing clutter is one of the most basic things you can do to improve a room’s vibe. We tend to let things pile up here and there. These eyesores affect our stress levels. You may not consciously be aware of it, but seeing clutter can cause you to tense up and feel anxious. Adding a cabinet space enhances the atmosphere and provide a place for storing papers, books, and other items. Increase Natural Sunlight The amount of natural light a room receives will also affect your mental state. Depending on how a home is situated, some rooms receive very little sunlight. Adding skylights can help, but there are also cheaper options. Try adding mirrors to the room, placing them at angles to capture the sun's rays. A mirror’s reflection also helps make a room look bigger. Add the Illusion of Space Rooms that are smaller and more confining can either be cozy or suffocating. If the room makes you feel claustrophobic, try to create more room. As previously mentioned, mirrors can add dimension to the room. Additionally, look for ways to leave the center of the room empty. Instead of a coffee table, add an extra end table. You can also add more artwork to draw the eye away from the size of the room. Take Advantage of Aromatherapy Adding scented candles is a simple, quick way to enhance a room's aroma. Alternatively, you might prefer investing in an essential oil diffuser. Whichever method you choose, look for scents that lead to a positive and relaxed emotional state. Lavender, cinnamon, and jasmine are just a few to consider. Invest in New Furniture If you're a crafty person, you might build your own tables or a chair from reclaimed wood. This brings your personal style to a room and promotes a more welcoming vibe. If your sofa and chairs don't help you feel relaxed, consider selling them and buying something a little different. Your home should be a place to relax and unwind, so keep that in mind, when shopping for new furniture. Paying closer attention to how your room makes you feel enables you to create a happier environment. People often tend to create a room by adding components that they like without giving thought to how those items will affect the overall environment. Visualizing possibilities of a living space will help you create something that feels good and welcomes guests openly. Feeling the need for a major renovation? Daniel Builders can assist you further as you process these feelings. • WELLNESS BY DESIGN - Building Trust Renovation Blog - South Carolina - Daniel Builders

Incorporate these features in a renovation for your health's sake. BUILDING TRUST BLOG WELLNESS BY DESIGN Incorporate these features in a renovation for your health's sake. Back to Blog 2021-11-30 Can renovating your home be beneficial to your health? Renovate your home to have maximum health benefits with air purification systems, soundproofing and water purification systems. Yes, it absolutely can be. During a renovation's Design phase, you have an opportunity to be intentional with options and features that have a positive impact on your overall well-being. Afterall, your home is meant to be a place where you sleep soundly ( when your body naturally heals itself ), think clearly, and even exercise effectively. Here are 8 ways to Design-Build a physically and mentally restorative environment. Air Purification - Clean air is essential to a robust respiratory system. When it comes to air purification systems there are numerous options from stand-alone systems to a complete overhaul of your home’s existing HVAC . Soundproofing - Noise compounds stress levels, especially when you’re trying to rest. Even those little annoying noises need to disappear while you unwind. There are several sound reducing techniques that can be incorporated into your renovation, ranging from sound dampening panels to additional layers of drywall to wall hangings . Simple Uncluttered Layout - Albert Einstein famously asked, "If a cluttered desk is a sign of a cluttered mind, of what, then, is an empty desk a sign?" Precisely! When designing your home to be a sanctuary of mental well-being, the goal is unencumbering your mind. Keep the layout functional, where storage is easily accessible. Water Purification Systems - A whole home system is the idea here, not just purification of drinking water, which definitely benefits health. Removing chemicals and heavy metals from the entire water supply will reduce skin irritants and result in cleaner dishes. Plus, the buildup of limescale and other mineral deposits won’t occur. Home Gyms - Exercise is obviously a great way to keep your body robust. Having a gym in your home means the stress of rushing to and from a gym is eliminated. Plus, perusing Pinterest for home gym Design ideas is a ton of fun. Basements, garages, and attics can all be converted into a home gym. Home Sauna and Steam Room - Sweat those heavy metals out of your body. Saunas and Steam rooms can be incorporated into your bathroom Design. Trying to decide between the two? Both offer numerous health benefits. For example a sauna can help with skin problems and a steam room clears congestion. Hydrotherapy Tubs - Having an on-call masseuse is the ideal scenario. Unfortunately, for most that’s outside the realm of possibility. A Hydrotherapy tub is much more realistic method for obtaining many of the same benefits (reducing muscle tension, relieving pain, rehabilitating injured muscles, boosting the immune system, encouraging detoxification, relieving stress, etc.). Calming Paint Colors - The color of your walls influence how you feel. Blues, Grays and Tans are a few stress reducing colors . Are you able to retreat to restorative environment? We would love to speak with you further about a Design-Build renovation to create one.
