  • Transitional Open Concept McDaniel Ave - South Carolina - Daniel Builders

TRANSITIONAL OPEN CONCEPT McDaniel Avenue Area 2022 Bridge Award Basement Bathroom Kitchen Whole Home This home, built in 1937, was gutted from floor to ceiling. Engineered beams were used to open up a very segmented floor plan and create a better flow from the front to the rear of the home on the main floor. An additional eight hundred square feet was added by enclosing and completing the unfinished basement, transforming it into entertainment space. Throughout the course of this seven month renovation, this home's common areas, kitchen, bathrooms, utility rooms, and bedrooms were completely restored. Additionally, a large six hundred square foot deck with a parking area underneath was built. As expected in a home of this age, when walls were opened we discovered the entire house was completely uninsulated while none of the utilities were up to code. One highly complex element of this remodel requiring extensive engineering insight was removing multiple load bearing walls above a second story. Previous Next Back to Projects Gallery

  • Open Contemporary Kitchen Lake Keowee - South Carolina - Daniel Builders

OPEN CONTEMPORARY KITCHEN Lake Keowee 2020 Pinnacle Award Kitchen Multi Room This gorgeous lakeside remodel began with an intent to open up the compartmentalized floor plan taking full advantage of the impressive view, as well as to enhance the character of the home through unique architectural features and high-end finishes. The Daniel Builders design team and homeowner collaborated to concept an open layout, removing load bearing walls and creating a seamless flow between the entry, kitchen, dinette, and living area. Large sliding doors surrounded by new, custom windows and an arched transom maximize the lake view and modernize the aesthetic. These additions, along with large windows in the kitchen bring substantially more natural light into the home than existed before. The kitchen features approximately a hundred square feet of counter-to-ceiling glass tile backsplash and a 5’x9’ seamless island countertop of Skara Brae Polished Cambria. The living area boasts a custom fireplace with painted wainscoting and a Cambria surround. Overhead the vaulted ceiling is detailed with Timber Truss Beams that draw the eye to appreciate this focal point in the space. Nine hundred square feet of LVP flooring unifies the different spaces as a whole and the custom rail and wrought iron baluster design provides a beautiful anchor between the different living areas. No detail was too small nor left untouched in fulfilling our client’s vision for this lakeside retreat. Previous Next Back to Projects Gallery

  • Traditional Exterior Space Augusta Road - South Carolina - Daniel Builders

TRADITIONAL EXTERIOR SPACE Augusta Road Area Exterior Upgrade Kitchen Multi Room This project began with a vision to turn a historic home into a downtown oasis where our clients could enjoy their retirement. Creating a place to make our clients feel like they were on vacation was our goal. The scope included transforming a laundry room and office, by utilizing shiplap, custom cabinets and reclaimed wood countertops. A rear entry area with pantry storage adjacent to the kitchen was added. Construction of a screened-in porch and rear deck which included custom balusters with a Swiss flair our clients helped design after returning from Switzerland. The screened-in porch included a heater to maintain comfort in the outdoors during cold weather. Rounding out the scope of work was carport/workshop area. From the detailed carpentry, to the brick perimeter walls around the driveway, to a motorized entry gate for rear access road to their new addition, this project is truly a masterpiece of collaboration between client vision and contractor execution. As the project manager stated, "We not only walked away with happy customers, we have gained wonderful new friends!" Previous Next Back to Projects Gallery

  • Midcentury Modern Interior Anderson South Carolina - South Carolina - Daniel Builders

MIDCENTURY MODERN INTERIOR Anderson 2022 Pinnacle Award Bathroom Exterior Upgrade Kitchen Multi Room Design details in this beautiful custom home were inspired by the international lifestyle of the homeowner who spent years of her life in Europe. The beauty and also challenge of design was blending straightforward Scandinavian styles with enough traditional charm to integrate with a distinctively southern setting. The architecture respects the geography with a gabled roof and elegant brick detail, and the exterior also incorporates modern touches such as sleek black window frames, board baton, and contemporary light fixtures. The interior is a blend of warm neutrals grounded by sleek black finishes and centered on a soaring, 20’ fireplace surround. • Four Seasons Addition Keowee Key - South Carolina - Daniel Builders

FOUR SEASONS ADDITION Keowee Key, Lake Keowee 2020 Bridge Award 2021 Chrysalis Award 2021 Pinnacle Award Bathroom Kitchen Whole Home Beyond upgrading the dated interior, our clients' vision for this beautiful, lakefront home was capturing lake views from multiple vantage points throughout the main level. This required demolishing the center of the home and reconstructing it as an open concept living space. Interior walls were removed, and additional support added above the ceiling so guests experience the view immediately upon coming through the front door. No detail was overlooked as the original set of disjointed spaces were reimagined into a synergistic flow that now features an expanded custom kitchen, new walk- in pantry, mudroom, laundry space, gracious living area, new outdoor four seasons living space, and an elegant master suite. The main living space boasts a custom dry bar and a tiered peninsula that offers additional seating and frames the view from the kitchen. A custom fireplace surround and built-in bookcases beautifully anchor the open great room, while exquisite stone tile and Fantasy Brown marble accentuate focal points throughout the home, providing it with a seamlessly unified aesthetic inviting you to relax and enjoy. • Modern Minimalist Kitchen Keowee Key - South Carolina - Daniel Builders

MODERN MINIMALIST KITCHEN Keowee Key, Lake Keowee 2019 Bridge Award Bathroom Kitchen Multi Room This custom home built on the beautiful banks of Lake Keowee in the 1990s had a very dated interior. Unfortunately, the layout was completely compartmentalized and cramped. In particular the kitchen and master bathroom were barely functional, reading as afterthoughts compared to the grand architectural design throughout the rest of the home. The client’s vision was two-fold; open these spaces to more livable, realistic proportions and bring a decidedly modern and exciting flair to the aesthetic. Decisions were made to extend the footprint of the kitchen by 2 feet which would allow for a 9’x4’ central island and to widen an existing passthrough between the kitchen and great room so that the homeowners can view the lakeshore from their workspace. Flat panel custom cabinets in a combination of custom painted maple and stained sepele woods brought modern appeal without overwhelming the beautiful natural wood beams and soaring ceilings with skylights which are the intended focal points. In the master bath, the clients wanted something truly special. Together we created an open wet room concept for the shower and tub area, and continued the rich sepele wood cabinetry that is also featured in the kitchen and dining spaces. The mosaic feature wet room wall celebrates its unusual shape that is due to a low roof line in the home’s exterior. The random scatter homemade triangular tiles were plotted on the floor of the master bedroom one piece at a time so the client could visualize design before installation. It took and a lot of patience for the tile tradesmen to transfer the pattern and install the tile on the shower walls. Previous Next Back to Projects Gallery

  • Traditional ADA Bathroom Verdae - South Carolina - Daniel Builders

TRADITIONAL ADA BATHROOM Verdae 2022 Bridge Award Bathroom One of the primary goals driving this renovation was opening the floor plan to enhance the ability of the homeowners to age in place. With concerns for mobility in the future, the client requested an ADA roll-in shower and the removal of the water closet in favor of a more open plan. Opening walls and expanding the shower also helped meet a secondary goal to increase the natural light in what was originally a fairly dark space. An early idea was to add or enlarge windows, but this brought some challenges including the exterior look of the home, privacy, and use of the outdoor space. Instead, fewer walls, the addition of glass, and the combination of gorgeous, reflective marble with a delicate Schumacher wall covering accomplished a bright and elegant space. Finally, the custom vanity features a built-in mirror on the linen tower. This feature, combined with the recessed drawer stack and breakfront counter top allows the homeowner a small niche where she can sit to use the vanity while still maintaining the needed storage space within the cabinets. The design team worked to address every functional detail to provide for the client’s needs while also capturing a classic interior style that blends seamlessly with the original design of this beautiful southern home. • Traditional Interior Pendleton - South Carolina - Daniel Builders

TRADITIONAL INTERIOR Pendleton Bathroom Kitchen Whole Home This home was originally constructed over 100 years ago. Daniel Builders performed a full remodel of this beautiful historic home utilizing a Guide-Design-Build process. The house was stripped down to the studs and expanded with a two-story addition, resulting in an increase of total living space from 2,200 square feet to 3,900 square space. The remodel incorporated many reclaimed materials to achieve a finished product that harkens back to the home’s original construction. The beam and mantle in the living room were crafted from old framing materials, while the wainscoting in the dining room was made from reclaimed paneling salvaged from the old addition that was demolished. The ceiling and fireplace in the master bedroom were also constructed using reused materials. Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining the original character is immediately evident upon entering the home. The additional square footage (1700 square feet) enhances functionality while bolstering the home’s historic charm. Modern and classic design elements are beautifully blended to endure for decades to come. Previous Next Back to Projects Gallery

  • Traditional Open Concept Lake Hartwell - South Carolina - Daniel Builders

TRADITIONAL OPEN CONCEPT Lake Hartwell 2022 Bridge Award Kitchen Multi Room This lakefront home features 4 gable roof lines that all meet at a central peak in the center of the living area. Our goal was to create parallel lines with 3’’ tongue and grove across each ceiling plane, while also accounting for variance of existing structure. Shadow lines in the trim were utilized to create intentional reveals throughout the ceiling, and the ceiling was scribed to the existing fireplace. Miter folds cap the corners of the ceiling to create an intriguing visual at the peak of the ceiling. Previous Next Back to Projects Gallery
