Blog showcases turning space under a deck into a dry area for hanging-out when raining. Finding extra space is a problem, but few realize they may be standing on the solution. Do you have a deck over 7ft tall? Recently one of our lead carpenters, Jeremy Kent, went to work underneath an existing deck to install the ZipUp Under-deck System . The result is beautiful (a definite upgrade in aesthetics) and practical (can be enjoyed rain or shine). Jeremy chronicles this project below. An "After" video is available here . Create harmony between client and contractor. BUILDING TRUST BLOG MATCH MAKING Create harmony between client and contractor. < Back Will Cord 2022-11-05 You really need certain relationships to "work”. Shawn Van Dyke discusses the process of renovation contractors getting matched with the right custom renovation clients. The connection between Client and Contractor is definitely one of them. Why? Because much is at stake when you enter a Build agreement, like your home and large sums of money. In this episode of Ready, Set, Renovate we delve into the client/contractor relationship. We invite you to watch as we examine why some relationships are harmonious and productive while others are highly strained. Our guest, Shawn Van Dyke, is a construction business coach, keynote speaker, and author of two books - Profit First for Contractors and The Paperwork Punch List. Most contractors are not profitable which makes them feel uncertain about what they need to do to grow their construction businesses. Shawn believes construction business owners should be as good at business as they are at their craft. That's why, after twenty-plus years of owning and operating multiple construction businesses, Shawn has decided to work with construction business owners, executives, and managers all over the world and shows them how to stop losing profits and wasting time. He is the CEO of the Built to Build Academy® which creates confident construction business owners by providing operational systems to streamline their construction business and get their life back. Rob Young of Heritage Custom Builder also joins us to share his experience and insight on the Client/Contractor relationship. • KEEP THESE TRADES - Building Trust Renovation Blog - South Carolina - Daniel Builders

Skilled labor plays an essential role in the custom renovation process. BUILDING TRUST BLOG KEEP THESE TRADES Skilled labor plays an essential role in the custom renovation process. < Back Will Cord 2020-03-06 What do you want to be when you grow up? “Carpenter” or “tile installer” probably wasn't at the top of your list. A shrinking number of people consider a career in the trades, but they should. Tradesmen and artisans have been vital to every civilization - Egypt, Greece and Rome not withstanding. Today these roles are equally valuable to our society, though often under appreciated. Here are 7 undeniable ways tradespeople enrich our lives. They make things beautiful - Maybe you can cut and lay tile with precision. Not many can. Those with this ability add tremendous visual appeal to a home, and tile is just one example. They make things functional - Layout and spacing may look great on paper, but a gifted carpenter knows if it's buildable. They take conceptual and make it functional. They fix what breaks - Have you ever experienced a major plumbing problem? You know the sheer joy of finding someone to fix it, so it never happens again. They educate - When a good electrician tells you how to stay safe around electricity, listen! This willingness to share insight might just save you life. They create space to live - Your place of employment, gym, grocery store, and hospital all have one thing in common. They would not exist apart from tradespeople. They provide protection - Your family would not be safe if the walls of your home couldn't keep out weather, animals, or other people. They establish stability - A true craftsman does work that lasts. Imagine your cabinetry needing to be replaced every 3 months. Your life would feel very unsettled. Fortunately, at Daniel Builders we’ve partnered with some of the best artisans, craftsmen, and tradespeople in the upstate. Their skill and contribution to our business cannot be overstated. We promote the tremendous value of those who work with their hands. Are you contemplating a major home renovation? • BATHROOM REMODEL COST - Building Trust Renovation Blog - South Carolina - Daniel Builders

A bathroom remodel can breathe new life into your home. If done correctly it will provide a fresh, functional space to relax and rejuvenate. But before you jump in, it's important to have a clear idea of the potential bathroom remodel costs. The size and upgrades you want, along with the materials you choose, will all impact your bottom line. Local market conditions will also have an influence on the final price. BUILDING TRUST BLOG BATHROOM REMODEL COST Are you considering a bathroom remodel in South Carolina? < Back Will Cord 2023-09-20 A bathroom remodel can breathe new life into your home. Below are some key factors to keep in mind before starting your bathroom remodel. This is a practical guide for avoiding sticker shock as you plan your bathroom remodel. Bathroom Size The size of the bathroom is a significant factor in determining the cost of a remodel, small bathroom remodel costs will obviously be less than a larger bathroom as they use more materials, fixtures, and labor. Master bathroom remodel cost s, on the other hand, are typically more expensive as they are typically the largest bathroom in the home. Do you plan to make big changes to the layout, plumbing, or other modifications to the structure? This can also make the project more complicated and increase the price tag. Fixtures and Appliances Upgrades to existing bathroom fixtures and appliances affect the outcome. Toilets, sinks, faucets, showerheads, and bathtubs come in a range of price points. Choosing high-end or luxury fixtures will add to your bottom line. Opting for more affordable appliances can help you stay within your budget. Flooring and Wall Finishes Your choices for flooring and wall finishes will also impact the final cost of your remodel. Will you choose ceramic or porcelain tiles, vinyl, or natural stone? Each option includes a variety of styles and price points. The more complex the cuts and the size of the bathroom will also affect the cost. Consider your style, durability and maintenance when making your choice. Cabinetry and Storage Updated cabinets and storage solutions can make your bathroom more functional and stylish. The cost of cabinets depends on the materials, design complexity, and storage options. Custom-made or high-end cabinets will be more expensive than prefabricated or in-stock options. Storage needs and budget are important factors, but like anything be careful how much quality you sacrifice. Going “too cheap” could cost you more in the long run. Lighting and Electrical Work Enhanced lighting in your bathroom can create a more inviting and functional space. But you will need to consider the price of fixtures, wiring, and any necessary electrical work. An upgrade to energy-efficient lights or adding task lights may result in extra electrical work, which adds to the overall cost. Labor and Professional Services The labor cost to remodel bathroom s are a significant component of any bathroom remodel. Hiring a professional contractor, plumber, and electrician results in a high-quality outcome. But this will also contribute to the cost. Choose wisely otherwise this could turn into the costly mistake of all. Trust is key. Use references, reviews and really good judgement before entrusting your bathroom to a contractor. Contractor horror stories abound. This is when a contractor comes across as competent and charming at the start but fails to deliver in a major way. Avoid that nightmare by choosing the right bathroom remodeling contractor! As outlined above, h ow much to renovate a bathroom depends on a variety of factors. The type of materials used, the type and size of your upgrades, and the professionals you choose all count. Establishing a realistic budget is the first and most important thing you can do. Next, rank the items that are most important to you. Your contractor or remodeling pro can help you estimate the cost of each item on your list. By understanding cost drivers, you can make the best decisions. This will lead to a beautiful and functional bathroom design within your budget and become your favorite room to rest. • GREENVILLE ROOTS - Building Trust Renovation Blog - South Carolina - Daniel Builders

Greenville SC is now home to a Daniel Builders location. BUILDING TRUST BLOG GREENVILLE ROOTS Greenville SC is now home to a Daniel Builders location. < Back Will Cord 2019-07-31 Daniel Builders opens a second location in Greenville SC to gain greater proximity to clients. We recently opened a Greenville, SC office. Why Greenville? Here are 5 reasons we sought a physical presence in Greenville. Proximity to customers - Many of our clients live here. Naturally, being closer makes these relationships stronger. Long distance customer relationships can work, but they’re not optimal in our profession. More “Face-to-Face” meetings - We love communicating in person. And it doesn’t matter who. We’re building trust with customers, stakeholders, even other builders. (*Note: Yes, we're finding ways to build trust even with our competition. CRAZY, huh?) Now more “face-to-face” conversations can happen. No long trips required. Commitment to Customers - Building Trust is a long-term commitment. Establishing deep roots in Greenville positions us as the contractor you choose for life. “Fly by night” contractors don’t do this. Industry Collaboration - Greenville is not just where clients reside. Many skilled trades and other industry related businesses reside here. In fact, next door to our office is a landscape architect. A Greenville location increases collaboration. Making Introductions - Our sign and building warmly greet those traveling along Washington St. Like an audible voice saying “Hello. We're Daniel Builders. Ready, willing, and able to guide you through a major home renovation.” And yes, meeting new clients is important to us. After all, why stop Building Trust now? Greenville residents, we are grateful to be neighbors. Are you contemplating a major home renovation? Laurilyn Hall and Billy Zion discuss the Design Phase. BUILDING TRUST BLOG WHY DESIGN Laurilyn Hall and Billy Zion discuss the Design Phase. < Back Will Cord 2022-11-22 Can you start a custom renovation without doing any Design work? Laurilyn Hall and Billy Zion discuss how vital the Design Phase is in a custom renovation. Of course you can. Some say Design is unnecessary and suggest one skilled craftsman (or what we affectionately call Chuck & his Truck) can get the job done. Which, for the record, might actually be true, but it's a gamble... like jumping from an airplane without any certainty your backpack has a parachute. Best to verify before making the jump. Starting a custom renovation is a major decision requiring forethought and preparation. Design = Preparation. So, what does a well-crafted Design include? Renovating your whole home will require more Design time than a bathroom reno, but both have similar Design deliverables - a rendering, a detailed scope of work, and a completed list of selections (colors & fixtures). Of course, having a Builder involved makes the transition from Design to Build even smoother. In this episode of Ready, Set, Renovate! we have two guests well-acquainted with custom renovation Design. Billy Zion of Zion architects and Laurilyn Hall of Thrive Architectural Interiors sat down to discuss the benefits of a good Design. So, without further ado… Let’s get to it!
