  • Contemporary Luxury Bath Chanticleer - South Carolina - Daniel Builders

This award winning partial home remodel of the master bathroom and wine cellar were recognized for degree of difficulty and special feature lighting. CONTEMPORARY LUXURY BATH Chanticleer 2021 Bridge Award Basement Bathroom Multi Room Master Bath: Beyond upgrading the dated interior, some of the client’s biggest goals for this potential-filled 386 square feet of Master Bathroom space was to create better traffic flow, more shower space and additional closet storage. All existing interior was completely demolished at the start the of this renovation. Defining characteristics of this Design-Build renovation are custom floating vanities with MTI Baths Boutique Collection vanity tops and Integrated sinks, Isenburg matte black wall mounted faucets, B&F Marble Systems Marmara Avenza Light & Dolomite tile accent wall, dimmable backlit mirrors by IB Mirror, Sonneman LED wall sconces, and recessed custom shelving with LED backlighting. A custom zero entry tile shower was designed utilizing the Wet Style Feel Collection matte black shower base, B&F Elegance 24” x 48” Statuario matte porcelain tile walls and bench, and Isenburg matte black shower fixtures and body sprays. Flooring throughout the bathroom was B&F Elegance 24” x 48” Nero Marquina matte porcelain tile. Lighting for this renovation came via a Klus wall integrated LED system. As for bathing, a Barclay freestanding tub with Isenburg matte black tub filler was installed. No detail was overlooked during this Master Bathroom transformation from an outdated area to a delightful new space that thrilled the homeowners. Wine Cellar: The client’s vision for this hidden space, accessed via a secret passageway, was to incorporate elements of modern design to create a wine cellar of unequaled flair. “Before” photos reveal a dark, unrefined basement area prior to undergoing extreme transformation. The effort to convert the original wine cellar into a finished space began with the installation of a waterproofing system. Relocation of existing wiring, plumbing, and HVAC ducting followed, to create the necessary headroom for a finished ceiling. The most eye-catching aspect of this renovation is the lighting. Light sources include Klus wall and ceiling integrated LED strip lighting, LED backlighting for the wine rack, LED up lighting at custom floating shelves, and LED stair riser lighting. The homeowner’s inspiration for the ceiling was to create a lighting arrangement that appeared as “pick-up sticks” that were randomly dropped. A Silver Cloud leathered granite countertop with a mitered waterfall edge sits atop custom-built cabinetry, and is complemented by in-countertop pop-up receptacles, an Elkay quartz sink, and an Isenburg matte black faucet. Under the counter is a beverage cooler and an ice maker. The flooring consists of B&F Elegance 24” x 48” Nero Marquina matte porcelain tile, along with an accent strip of polished black pebbles below the sleek wine rack from STACT. Maybe you’ve heard legend of these "off-grid" people and their homes, but do that actually exist? And if they do exist, what modern conveniences are they sacrificing to achieve this feat? In this episode of Ready, Set, Renovate! our guest Derrick Zearley discusses his modern “off grid” home, which he and his family have lived in since 2020. Derrick reveals the power source (*spoiler alert* Tesla batteries are part of the power equation) and how the whole system got up & running. • SPACE MAKER - Building Trust Renovation Blog - South Carolina - Daniel Builders

This space-saving mudroom feature was highlighed by HOUZZ! BUILDING TRUST BLOG SPACE MAKER This space-saving mudroom feature was highlighted by HOUZZ! Back to Blog 2020-09-01 In our last blog "Mudroom Masterpiece" we told you Houzz was featuring a mudroom we renovated. Last week the story was published. Our renovation in coordination with Buttercup Design was featured alongside 2 other projects, which Houzz refers to as “laundry rooms”. Technically, there's a difference between mudrooms and laundry rooms. More important "Mudroom" sounds so much cooler. And despite their differences all three projects offer a unique insight for creating your own Mudroom Masterpiece. The Houzz video can be seen here and the article here . After Houzz published the story, someone emailed asking if we would share our secret. How did we create extra space behind the washer/dryer? While we’re unwilling to share all secrets, this one we’ll entrust to you. You’ll likely find it interesting. Here it is: It’s called the Dryerbox . And this video shows how Dryerbox maximizes space by allowing the vent exhaust to recess into a wall cavity. As you see there are a variety of sizes and orientations that guide that hot, damp air through the floor or ceiling. Dryerbox is perfect for almost any washer/dryer scenario. Not only does it create a roomier mudroom, the Dryerbox keeps the area cleaner, safer, and more energy efficient than traditional dryer vent methods like these. As shown below Dryerbox keeps your dryer’s vent duct from being compressed and/or restricted. Lint build up is minimized, reducing the threat of a fire hazard. And when venting is improved clothes dry faster and more efficiently. We have plenty more insights to share regarding your custom mudroom renovation. Alex Williams "digs into" the landscape of this award-winning Simpsonville, SC property. Back to Blog 2025-05-30 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=15ibZEb9iTk How is your home’s curb appeal? Maybe it’s in a good place, or perhaps it’s unsightly. Wherever you are on that spectrum, know this: a landscape architect can dramatically enhance your property. We know a great landscape architect! On this episode of Ready, Set, Renovate, we “dig into” a recent collaboration with Arbor Land Design. We cover “a lot of ground” as Alex Williams shares about this award-winning Simpsonville, SC property and the fundamentals of landscape architecture. If you’re in the market for a property upgrade, here are five characteristics of a good landscape architect: They work to create a cohesive flow between land and home, considering the form and function of the space. They craft an experience, not simply an end product. They actively collaborate with the design decision makers of a home, whether it’s the architect, general contractor, or some other influencer. They take the time to understand a client’s expectations and personality. They know not only what is best to plant, but when is best to plant it. They provide construction management services, overseeing other trade contractors from grading contractors to masons. 0:00 Introduction 1:13 Alex’s Background & Experience 2:14 What is a Landscaper vs. a Landscape Architect? 3:13 What’s the Best Time to Consult a Landscape Architect? 4:08 Arbor Land Design’s Process 4:41 Contemporary vs. Traditional Design 5:14 Arbor Land Design + Daniel Builders Project Collaboration 8:29 Planting Season in the South 9:24 The Importance of Native Plants 9:53 Landscape Design Challenges 10:39 Client Relationships 11:04 How to Contact Arbor Land Design 11:30 How to Contact Daniel Builders Are you contemplating a major home remodel? • BENEFICIAL FAILURES - Building Trust Renovation Blog - South Carolina - Daniel Builders

Allow us to share what we learned through failure. BUILDING TRUST BLOG BENEFICIAL FAILURES Allow us to share what we learned through failure. Back to Blog 2019-04-16 Becoming a sought after renovation contractor didn't happen instantly for Daniel Builders. There were some hard lessons we learned and willingly share. You’re the beneficiary of our failure. “I didn’t fail. I just found 2000 ways not to make a lightbulb.” - Thomas Edison. Call it what you want, but these 7 things we got wrong. We could deny getting it wrong, but what good is that? Owning failure has much greater benefit for you, our target market, to reap. Greater value comes to you because of lessons failure taught us. Here’s where we failed and found a better way. Pricing Failure - More than once we paid dearly for underquoted projects. Quoting errors revealed our great need for a design build process. It was obvious. When you carefully design and clearly scope a project (making all selections upfront), pricing is accurate - even the very best "educated guesses" aren't as accurate. Implementing the design build process gave our business long term stability. After all, what good is a lifetime warranty when a business doesn't survive? Identity Failure - We tried to be a “do it all” contractor. Any project, regardless of size, scope, or budget, we tried to make work. Big fail. This approach gave us no identity. No focus. No niche. Our customer base showed us we have a strength – renovations. Design build renovations became our exclusive niche. We no longer try to do it all. Instead, you now have a highly specialized renovation contractor. Communication Failure - Verbal communication is one of our strengths, but it created a problem. We relied too heavily on it. Important details were being communicated in conversation but forgotten. Who remembers all conversations perfectly? Not us. Not our customers. We made follow-up emails mandatory after important conversations. Now the phrase “I thought you said….” isn’t necessary because it's in writing. Finishing Failure - Who wants to live in a home continually “under construction”? A good renovation contractor wants your project finished as much as you do. “Project dribble” is phrase we coined to describe the plethora of little issues that keep projects from finishing on time. Eventually dribble got our full attention, and we found proactive was to prevent it. So, your estimated date of completion isn't delayed by dribble. Lead Generation Failure - We used Service Magic, a lead generation company, in the early days of our business. Big mistake. It didn't take long to figure out you, our customers, are the best referral partners. That shouldn’t be a shocker. When you’re happy with our service and quality you talk about it ( and many are talking. ) So we canceled Service Magic, and put even more effort in delighting you, and strengthening client relationships. It's a win-win for you and us. Giving Failure - We’re passionate about giving. “Generous Giving” is one of our core values. And giving “too much” to charity has never been a regret. But we have given too much to non-charitable causes. We pumped too much time, effort, and insights into projects that never materialized, and toward customers who never moved forward. We figured out charging a small consultation fee is a great way to gauge a client's level of commitment. Now business efforts are more aligned with you, the paying customer, and charitable efforts with those in real need. Acknowledging Failure - Why are so many business owners unwilling to acknowledge failure? Maybe they feel threatened by transparency. We see it different. “Building Trust” (which is both our tagline and our passion) requires straightforward communication, even when we get things wrong. Talking about failure once made us squirm. Not so much anymore. We’re quick to tell you we’re not perfect, but as you see from this blog, we take full ownership of failure. Are you contemplating a major home renovation? Back to Blog 2022-12-05 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1xiUlWdlsYA Know any good attorney jokes? Construction attorney Stokley Holder shares insights about custom renovation contracts. Funny as they may be legal problems during a renovation aren't funny at all. Going into a major custom renovation requires a robust legal contract, which can get quite lengthy and full of confusing legalese. Discussing details of a contract isn't the most delightful part of renovating your home, but absolutely necessary. The alternative of having no contract or one that's poorly written can cause your renovation experience to be truly regrettable. Attorney Stokley Holder, of the law offices of Holder, Padgett, Littlejohn and Prickett is our guest in this episode of Ready, Set, Renovate! In addition to the kitchen renovation the scope of work included a 4 season addition that garnered a Chrysalis award. FOUR SEASONS ADDITION Keowee Key, Lake Keowee 2020 Bridge Award 2021 Chrysalis Award 2021 Pinnacle Award Bathroom Kitchen Whole Home Beyond upgrading the dated interior, our clients' vision for this beautiful, lakefront home was capturing lake views from multiple vantage points throughout the main level. This required demolishing the center of the home and reconstructing it as an open concept living space. Interior walls were removed, and additional support added above the ceiling so guests experience the view immediately upon coming through the front door. No detail was overlooked as the original set of disjointed spaces were reimagined into a synergistic flow that now features an expanded custom kitchen, new walk- in pantry, mudroom, laundry space, gracious living area, new outdoor four seasons living space, and an elegant master suite. The main living space boasts a custom dry bar and a tiered peninsula that offers additional seating and frames the view from the kitchen.
